Seasons I, II: December, Berkeley, CA was inspired by the misty sunsets—sunsets filtered through the Bay Area’s marine layer—formed by the distinctive geography and the atmospheric interplay between the Golden Gate Strait and the Sierra Nevada Desert.
The color of the sunset, diffused through the fine water droplets of the fog, took on an almost tactile quality—its texture delicately shaped by the temperature of the moisture in the air.
Seasons began in December 2024 during my residency at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California. The project emerged as a way to reflect on how changing environments influence the shift of my cognition—and, conversely, to explore what remains constant within me. It serves as an exercise in honing perceptual acuity toward the external world while tracing the continuity of my internal experience.
Each color in the series captures the historical, sensorial and psychological impressions of place, as well as a trace of my personal trajectory. Expanding on the research developed in my previous projects, Landscapes (2016–2024) and On Observation (2024), this series of etchings seeks to accumulate an evolving archive of emotional and perceptual landscapes—a chronotope of moments, spaces, information and memories suspended in color.
